MYSTERY IN THE AIR
MALENY COMMUNITY CENTRE SUNDAY 7TH APRIL 2.00PM
“… hilarious tribute to the glamour, the style and the political incorrectness that was the pre-television era.” The Daily Edition
"Comedy legend Michael Veitch deploys his talents for turn-on-a-dime mimicry and timing, playing off Simon Oat's perfect rendition of 40's radio matinee idol. Two men, charged with turning out daily drama, at war with each other ... This is live comedy at its finest, laughter but with heart, slapstick with a study of character, succinct enough to leave you wanting more. " Guy Rundle
Michael Veitch (Fast Forward, D Gen) is back doing what he is loved for - original comedy. Simon Oats joins him on stage as the perfect matinee idol rogue, dashing former Squadron Leader, Tony ‘The Ace’ Hamilton.
Set in a 1940's radio station the original radio plays, Flash Gordon and The Wax Works Museum are performed, but there's even more drama on stage from the 'off-air' shenanigans.
Sharply written, intelligent comedy that crosses politically correct boundaries but manages to hold the audience by their heart-strings. A much-loved fading star is feeling the heat from a dashing newcomer. Talent vs stability, old vs new ... the drama doesn't just go 'live-to-air' - the laughs come from everywhere!
This is without a doubt terrific entertainment with big laughs at a cracking pace.
